Course Description: All courses are taught on an 8 hour per day basis and include classroom and range exercises. Information provided, will include history of the product, nomenclature of the product, use of force considerations, different applications for the product, training examples and legal implications
Eligibility: Restricted to Law Enforcement and Military personnel only. Participants must have at least basic user certification.
Standards: Instructors must pass a written examination and demonstrate a level of proficiency on range activities.

This course is comprised for four instructor level topics covering OC Aerosols, Specialty Impact and Chemical Munitions and Distraction Devices. The student will acquire a general working knowledge of Defense Technology® products, both technically and tactically, along with the skills necessary to conduct in-service training.
SM Specialty Impact Munitions: Overview
-Weapons and munitions: 12ga./37mm/40mm/hand delivered
-Tactical consideration in the use of impact munitions in crowd-control/dynamic-entry/hostage-rescue/barricaded-subject situations
-Physiological/psychological effects
-Liability consideration/policy and procedures
-Blunt trauma/ballistics and energy

CM-ICP Chemical Munitions: Overview
-Types and forms of chemical agents
-Tactical consideration in the use of chemical munitions in crowd-control/barricaded-subject situations
-Live-fire exercises
-Decontamination/first aid
-Protective masks (vision-impaired and oxygen-depletion drills)
-Criminal and civil liabilities/policy and procedures
-Instructor development to establish in-house/in-service training and documentation skills
DD-ICP Distraction Device: Overview
-Distraction devices: types and nomenclature/reloadable and non-reloadable devices/command initiated
-Decibels/candela/p.s.i./overpressure
-Handling/storage/rendering safe

-Criminal and civil liabilities

Eligibility: Participants must have a minimum of the basic PepperBall Users Certification.
Standards: To develop student skills in the operation, deployment, application and maintenance of the PepperBall Launching System.
To give the students the tools and knowledge to design and instruct courses for their agency in the safe and effective use of the PepperBall System.
Topics: Basic safety guidlines, Types of incidents for which PepperBall System should be considered, Targeting for accuracy and safety, safe and efficient operation of the SA-200 Launcher, Various PepperBall projectiles for live application and correct deployment distances for PepperBall projectiles.

Course Name: Taser: Instructor Certification
Duration: 1-2 Days
Class Size: Maximum 20 Participants
Course Description: To provide you with the theory and practical training necessary to effectively instruct users to safely operate the all Taser Electronics Control Devices including X2, X26, X3, XREP and the X12 less-lethal Shot-Gun Platform.
Eligibility: Restricted to Law Enforcement and Military Personnel only. Participants must have completed the basic users cousre to be eligible.
Standards: Participants must pass a written examination and demonstrate a proficiency in the function and use of the Taser weapons.
Topics: Technology overview, Electrical and medical background, Specifications, practical hands-on training with various weapons and launching platform.

Duration: 3 Days
Class Size: Maximum 16 Participants
Course Description: Subject/Situation assessment and evaluation. Awareness and understanding of the basic concepts of presure points, joint manipulation and the use of distractions. The participant will also be introduced to the fundamental principles for teaching gross-motor skilled techniques.
Eligibility: Primarily for Military personnel (other agencies may inquire re: customized courses)
Standards: Participants will understand and articulate the basic concepts for teaching gross-motor skilled techniques and effectively perform techniques taught in the CQC course.
Topics: Subject/Situation Awareness and Evaluation, Basic concepts of teaching Gross-Motor Skill Techniques and practical hands on training.

Eligibility: Participants must have their BST 1 Certification
Standards: The AST course is an advanced Security Officer course and will help prepare you to work in the feild of Private Security. If you successfully complete the course, you will receive a Certificate of Training Completion isued by the Justice Institute of BC. You will then be ready to apply for your licence endorsement to carry handcuffs while performing your duties as a Security Professional.
Topics: Key Provisions of the Security Services Act, the Security Services Regulation and related policy, National Use of Force Frame-Work, Practical Hands On Activities and Reporting and Documentation.
